Do you have any suggestions about doing media interviews about hunting?

Question
A South Florida news station has requested an interview with me at 3:00 this afternoon to get the hunters’ perspective on our recent Florida bear hunt. I do not know whether the interviewer will be asking slanted questions and being interviewed is uncharted waters for me. I have tried to gather as much factual information as possible. I want to make sure that I make the right impression and represent hunters well. I would appreciate any advice you can give me.

If you are unable to get back to me on such short notice, I understand completely.

Thank you,
Jesse

Jesse,

You are wise to prepare ahead of time for such interviews! I suggest always being polite and stay on target/subject. Wildlife biologist have studied the bear population in Florida for years and have lots of biological data.  Such management helps keep populations balanced with habitat and other species while reducing human/bear conflicts.

Stay positive and don’t be drawn in to a fight.  Know you will loose in the editing room so simply never say anything that you will regret. Remember the interviewer/editor always has the last word!

Thank you for telling the truth and protecting our resources and hunters!

Enjoy creation,
