Hi Mr. Grant,

My name is William Lee, I am an undergraduate senior at the University of Minnesota, Crookston location, and part of the Natural Resources Management Program here. In my composition course we had to pick a theme that we would write about for the entire semester, I chose the topic of quality deer management. I have already written a definition paper, just defining what QDM is and different aspects of it. Now I am writing an ethnography paper, which is the study and observation of a culture or people. As part of my paper my professor recommended using email interviews, because they are easy to quote from and use in a paper. So if you or part of the growing deer.tv crew could tell me what QDM means to you personally and what aspects you think are important to deer manager or any observations, and personal feelings, you have about deer management. I would ask that I could pull quotes to use in my paper, I would appreciate if you could take the time to email me back and if not thank you for your time.

William,

Quality Deer Management (QDM) means hunters assume an active role in managing deer and deer habitat.  This often means hunters are active year round and not just during deer season. It also means hunters make an active choice to improve natural resources, not just consume natural resources.

QDM often matures into a lifestyle versus an infrequent activity. I believe this involvement and advanced education is extremely beneficial to a wide range of natural resources and society at large.  QDM develops a vested interest and when citizens have a vested interest in improving natural resources all of society benefits.

Enjoy creation,
